What is in my oatmeal.

I have been on a real oatmeal kick lately! Oatmeal is great when cooked right. Instant oatmeal can be okay, but once you make Banana whipped oats you will most likely ditch the instant stuff. Anyways below is the kind I use because it comes in the biggest tub, but any old fashioned oats will work. About 6 months ago I found this blog katheats.com/kaths-tribute-to-oatmeal. She has all these great pictures of different kinds of oats she has created along with a great recipe/tutorial on how to make it. Well I adapted my recipe from hers. If you want ideas of what to put in your oats check out her pics she is pretty creative.

Anyways, here is how I make mine.
Ingredients: (1 serving)
1/2 cup Oats- old fashion
1/2 cup of milk
1/2 cup Almond milk (swt or unswt) If you dont have almond milk use regular milk and add a splash of flavored coffee creamer
1/2 tsp Vanilla (this is not needed if you have alm milk)
1/2-1 banana - Sometimes the bananas are huge and I use only a 1/2 of one, but if they are small use the whole thing.
Cinnamon to taste

Toppings (Any fruit will work)
4 Fresh Cherries - chopped and pitted
 1/2 Fresh Peach
tbsp Almond butter
 tsp Honey
Almonds
toasted coconut

- Add oats and milk in a pot and place on the stove on med heat. Cover with a lid and allow to simmer.

Cut up your banana and then use a fork to smash the pieces. Undercover your oats and when they look like the image below whip in your banana. Turn the heat down to low and allow oats to simmer some more. While the oats are simmering cut up your fruit. I used 4 fresh cherries and 1/2 of a peach.
When the oats appear to be a creamy consistency add a couple sprinkles of cinnamon.

Add all your topping to your oats and enjoy!!!
