I am excited cause the Decemberists are coming to CVILLE in June and Shovel and Ropes are opening up for them!! I bought the tickets for this show pre-sale and I don't think they had the opening band posted. I missed Shovel and Ropes the last time they came into town, apparently they sell out super fast here. It was a nice surprise to see them as the opening band. Needless to say, I am extremely excited about this show. Here is a little playlist of all my favorite songs from the Decemberists and Shovel and Ropes. Seriously though you should listen to Make You Better... I could listen to that song on repeat.

I have been digging the Decemberists new album What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World. I bought the limited teal vinyl album on pre-sale from newburycomics. I have been a little obsessed with colored limited vinyl lately.

Oh my, I am so overwhelmed (in the best way possible) with great music coming out. Haim just came out with a new album and Phantogram released a 4 song EP. I am so excited for when Phantogram releases their whole album. The song I have been playing on repeat of Phantogram is Black out days. This song is so upbeat and I am lovin the beat. They are coming to Cville and I can't wait to see them. Song was recently performed on Jimmy Fallon http://www.hulu.com/watch/542027 <<<<go check it out!! Another song I am obsessed with is Haim -My Song 5 I love the beats and change ups!

Oh lovely Spring..
Its starting to feel like spring here! Winter was pretty awful. I am not a snow/cold person. I think I am just not use to the snow, but still I am glad its over for now. Winter just makes me want to hibernate and do nothing. I have been lacking in post lately.
Here is a spring mix for your listening pleasure. I am really into these songs right now. I have recently invested in a Eno hammock and its perfect for relaxing and listening to some great tunes. I love my Eno Hammock so far!

She loves the Moon Mix
This 20 song mix is a laid back and soothing. Something you would listen to while gazing at the stars and moon. Purely enchanting in my opinion. There are also a few cover songs thrown in the mix and some songs I couldnt avoid adding due to currently playing on repeat (Haim). This mix includes Gregory Alan Isakov, Bat for lashes, Lord Huron, Local Natives, and On and On. ..etc

New Music
Gregory Alan Isakov is a singer/songwriter that I recently stumbled upon and now I am completely in love with his voice and music. I have not heard a song yet that I don't like. I would describe his music as rustic beautiful folk. I love the calming soothing effect his music has on me.

I saw kimbra at 930 club in Washington DC and we had a pretty good spot. She was amazing. I love her crazy dance moves. She is one talented lady and her band was pretty awesome as well! Opening for her were the Stepkids, which I have seen before. They are psychedelic funk they were pretty good, but I think I was more impressed the first time I saw them.

Erie, Folky Playlist
In the spirit of October and Halloween Ive created a playlist consisting of some songs that I think have a eerie, spooky kinda vibe. Some having children choirs and others being instruments creating the eerie melodies. Anyways Enjoy.

Concerts!!
This post is a little late. However I still wanted to post it. I went to see Lumineers with Old Crow Medicine show and My Morning Jacket with Band of Horses.
I have been obsessed with the Lumineers lately and they put on an amazing show. I thought they were better than Old Crow Medicine Show, but it could be that the Lumineers are just more my kind of music. Old Crow Medicine Show was good, but I just couldnt get into them as much. We saw them at the Pavilion venue in Charlottesville. I really liked the venue and we got a pretty good view as well. Heres some pics of the show. I took some videos, but something happened to one of my speakers on my Iphone and the audio sounds like its muffled and far away.

For my birthday I went to see Band of Horses opening for My Morning Jacket. I have seen BOH before but I have been wanting to see MMJ FOREVER! They were so good. Jim James hit every high note. Ben Bridwell (lead singer of BOH) helped MMJ with the song Wonderful the way I feel. It was truly amazing!! Also I was so excited to see MMJ perform lay low! I had some small videos but however for some reason they will not load.

Bonnaroo Pt 1
I just got back from Bonnaroo today and WHOA was it an experience! I had a blast. Bonnaroo is like another world you feel like it not real life. I mean everyone we met was super nice! We had an awesome camp set up with awesome neighbors! We were worried when we first got there that we were not going to have enough space too set up camp and were going to go to tent only camping to have more room. Tent only didn't work out because we got to Bonnaroo late on Wed. that the closed it where no one could leave our camp area. However, it ended up working out perfect and we had plenty of space for our camp.
The weather ended up being pretty awesome this year. It only rained for a little while Sunday morning and then sprinkled throughout the day. We were also lucky it wasn't extremely hot and don't get me wrong it was hot, but it was tolerable. It would get pretty cold at night, but by 7 am the inside of your tent was a furnace. We were also pretty lucky to get a decent camp site to centerroo. We still had to walk some, but it could have been way worse. The overall experience for Bonnaroo was truly amazing and I would definitely go back!
Anyways on to the music...I saw Phantogram, Alabama Shakes, Feist, Foster the People, Avett Brothers, some of Two Door Cinema Club, Radiohead, The Shins, Gary Clark Jr, some of Childish Gamino, some of The Roots, The Punch Brothers, some of Temper Trap, City and Colour, Red Hott Chili Peppers, The Shins, and Ben Folds Five. I was pretty happy with everything I saw. We weren't able to make a couple of things that we wanted to see like The Kooks, Civil Wars, and Young the Giant and Aziz Ansari, but it is impossible to make it to everything!! I think my favorite shows were of course Radiohead (woulda been nice to be closer, but there was so many people it was impossible) Phantogram, The Shins and Foster the People. Heres some pics!
Heres some clips of the ones we got the closest to different things at Bonnaroo
Phantogram - Don't Move
Phantogram- Mouthful of Diamonds
Foster the People- Helena Beat
City and Colour - Weightless

I swear, we were infinite MIX
So I have been trying to have the motivation to study for RVT (vascular registry). As most of you know, I got a job out in Charlottesville, VA. I have 6 months to pass my vascular registry for the job, but I already applied to take it so I have until May 26th. Since this is a new job and they do alot of exams I have never seen before in clinic I need to go over everything again!! So I made a study, chill playlist for myself. Its complete with blues, indiefolk, and some soulful tunes. In creating this I have found some amazing music. I am really into folk music with alot of violin action.
Anyways here a lil update I started last week at my new job at UVa medical center. I had to do 3 days of orientation/training/cpr class. I started in the department on Tuesday, I know its not going to be a easy starting off. I am really going to have to work hard and learn! I am excited though about the future!

Awesome New Music
I recently came across Adam Arcuragi & the Lupine Chorale Society via hearya blog and Im in love. I have been wanting some new music to listen too! The album is called Like A Fire That Consumer All Before It …and I cant wait to listen to the whole thing. The band is labeled as Death Gospel, which sounds a little sketchy at first, but is completely appropriate after you listen to them. There is a raspy, rugged feel to his voice and then surprisingly the background vocals bring a pleasant, but somewhat erie feel to the music. I love the folkish feel to this band, which I have been really into lately! I did a little research and Adam was born in Atl, GA.
The first one is a little session on NPR. It's 17 mins long. The second video is a official music video for the song President's Song. The last one is them performing the song You'd think this was easy live.
Anyways enjoy!

My personal Favorite albums of 2011!!
So here is my favorite 10 albums of 2011. There was some great music in 2011 so I will try my best to narrow it down. I am one of those annoying people that has so many favorite songs. I am also very opinionated about music, but here goes my fav albums from 2011.
Albums
1. Bon Iver - Bon Iver
- This album was just amazing! I mean Justin Vernon's voice is magical! I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert this past year and even live his voice is flawless! If you have not listened to this album please dont deprive yourself its so worth it. Pitchfork named it the number 1 album of 2011 and urbanoutfitters had it as the 2nd best album. Obviously I agree with pitchfork.
2. Fleet Foxes- Helplessness Blues
- I can't tell you how much I listened to this album. It just makes me so happy. Its just a beautiful album full of amazing vocal harmonies. My sister and I use to go around singing "If I had an orchard, I'd work till I'm raw ....If I had an orchard, I'd work till I'm sore"

3. Florence and the Machine - Ceremonials
- I couldn't wait for this album to come out last year. It was definitely my most anticipated album. Her first album was absolutely amazing, however I was a little worried about the second album because I was afraid I would be disappointed. I was so far away from disappointed. Her vocals are stunning in this album. This album also has that trance-like dance feel that her first album had, which I loved. I would do anything to have her powerhouse of a voice! I want to see her live in concert sooooooo bad I bet it would be magical!
4. My Morning Jacket - Circuital
- This album was awesome to me. Ive heard mixed reviews from people saying it was disappointing, but I didnt think so at all. I felt like the vocals were erie at some point. When I first listened to Holdin on to Black Metal, I felt the vocals in the background were erie/creepy, but now I love it. Also, the song The Day Is Coming, is probably one of my favorite songs of 2011.
5. Radiohead - King of Limbs
- The only disappointing thing about this album was how short it was. I really enjoyed the whole album, however there were 3 songs that I just couldnt stop playing. Codex, Lotus Flower and Give Up the Ghost these songs were genius. Radiohead is a band I have to see in concert. The music video for Lotus Flower is one of my favorites...Who wouldnt love to watch Thom Yorke dance his heart out! I didnt start really hard core listening to radiohead until around 5 years ago! Definitely glad I did because they are one of my favorite bands now!
6. The Black Keys - El Camino
- This album came out more towards the end of 2011. I have had it on repeat since. I love the raspy-soul rock feel that this album has. This album might sound different than their other albums, but artist are always growing and changing up their sound. This album is still a great album just as their others albums are great. I feel like this album displays a rustic groove sound, which I love. I absolutely love the song Run right back to her it is pretty great!
7. City and Colour- Little Hell
- My brother actually told me to listen to this album. Ive listened to City and Colour before, but I've never listened to a whole album by them. Let me tell you it was worth it. Dallas Green's voice is simply incredible and the lyrics are beautiful. The song Silver and Gold almost made me cry when I first listened to it.
8. Foo Fighters - Wasting Light
- So Ive recently strayed from alternative, grungy rock. BUT foo fighters album quickly drew me back and I loved every second of it. This album was a awesome album. It quickly became my running music because it just pumped me up sooo much!
9. Iron and Wine - Kiss each other Clean
- I enjoyed this album alot. Sam Beam's voice and songwriting skills are pretty amazing. Iron and Wine was the first folkish band that I had ever listen to. My love for folk music continues to grow.
10. Feist - Metals
- I havent listen to much feist until this album. I first heard the song How Come you Never Go There and immediately got my hands on the album. I absolutely love her voice. I wouldnt call her voice a powerhouse voice like Florence. Feist's voice has an innocent flow to it. Currently, the song The Bad in Each Other is my favorite song off this album. However all of the songs are worth listening too!!
What were some of your fav albums??? I will soon post a playlist of my favorite songs of 2011!

Autumn MIX - Really good stuff
I wanted to share my recent playlist of some music I am listening. It features some new and older songs. I am really excited about some new music coming out. Florence and the Machine has a new album coming out Oct 31st, Ceremonials! Super stoked about it (maybe even more stoked than Halloween) and her new songs Shake it out and Only if for a night (On the playlist) are amazing. Black keys just released a new song lonely boy (on the playlist)! Its pretty awesome and I cant wait for the new album, El Camino to come out Dec. 6th. Also, like I posted previous First Aid Kit has a new album that comes out sometime in Jan 2012 called Lions Roar. Feist just had a album launch (Metals) Oct 3, which I want to get my hands on because the song How Come You Never Go There is awesome.
Boy & Bear is an indie rock band that my brother got me into, their album Moonfire is definitely worth listening to.
Enjoy!

2 pair of thumbs - Mumford & Sons
So I have been trying forever to post videos from Mumford & Sons concert but apparently blogger wont let me! so I guess I will have to just post pics. Anyways sorry for being so delayed but the concert was amazing I wanna def. see them again! The show was in Asheville at the Civic center. It was a perfect venue. I love general admission concerts because its more personal! The band had an amazing stage presence and you could tell they were just having fun. They were pretty funny in their british ways. The opening bands were Matthew and the Atlas and The Low Anthem. I really liked Matthew and the Atlas alot! The low anthem just wasnt my favorite. Heres my pics
this is when the opening bands and Mumford & Sons got on stage and performed Avetts Brother's, Go to sleep..heres also a video I found on youtube from the asheville concert... my camera ended up being full by the time they played this so I didnt get any video.. Videos below taken from youtube since mine wouldnt upload, but they are from the Asheville concert.
This was a new song they sang called Below my Feet. It was pretty awesome..
My fav. White Blank Page.
Heres some cute pics of our time in Asheville.
